Being prepared for emergencies is always a great idea. Having water, food, necessary medicines, a family where do we meet plan, and a communications backup plan are all needed components for all residents of Deschutes County. During 2016 a couple of neighborhoods in Central Oregon have had meetings discussing these topics. When your neighborhood meets in 2017, discuss these topics and organize your family for emergencies. The Red Cross has some great information at http://www.redcross.org/get-help/prepare-for-emergencies/be-red-cross-ready. FEMA has more information at https://www.fema.gov/plan-prepare.
Consider how does your family prepare for an all day power and communication outage. How about a multiple day outage?
